The Word around us
Friday 19 to Sunday 21 October 2018
High Leigh Conference Centre
Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire, EN11 8SG
The theme of this year’s Festival, The Word around us reflects a desire to engage with scripture in imaginative ways that make it relevant to life in our modern, secular world.
A weekend of creative exploration, reflection and fellowship
There will be opportunities to try out a number of approaches – both practical and more contemplative – using music, drama, dance, visual art and making, and creative writing, as well as a prayer walk and space for reflection.
After an enjoyable Friday evening getting to know each other and listening to a concert by musician Simeon Wood, we spend Saturday exploring a variety of creative techniques. There will be the opportunity to learn some new ways of expressing ourselves, as well as developing existing skills. During the evening we will come together to share what we have learned in the shape of a 'facilitated entertainment'.
On Sunday, the pace will change as we consider how we might apply the lessons of the weekend within our own church contexts.
Some of the sessions will be led by ArtServe members, others by external facilitators. All are experts in their fields.
